John Morris AUGUST report

Sorry for the late report John.

WEEKLY FISHING REPORT
FROM: J & M Guide Service
WEEK: 12 – 19 August, 2012

This week started out with 100 degree days and water temperatures over 95 degrees. On Friday we received 2 inches of rain and on Saturday another 2 inches of rain. The water temperatures dropped to 84 degrees and The Largemouth Bass decided to eat.

On Saturday morning the Bass brought the Zoom 8 inch worm back into their diet with a vengeance. They wanted it coming through the grass in a twitching motion and fairly slow. The color of choice was watermelon/red with about one inch of the tail dyed chartreuse. We rigged it on 17 pound test Stren line with a 4/0 LO45 Eagle Claw hook and a 3/16 ounce South Bend slip sinker. You need a strong hook to get them out of the grass and Lilly Pads. This pattern continued through today.

The White Bass were slow this week. We used a 1 ounce white slab to catch most of our White Bass. Our better White Bass came out of 26 foot of water.

The Crappie were also slow. Their diet still consist of small minnows. A few were being taken with white and chartreuse or white and pink 1/8th ounce jigs.

The Brim bite was on this week. We found the better Brim in 6 to 8 foot of water. The better Brim liked a steady diet of crickets. We used 4 pound test Stren line and a number 10 long shank Brim hook. The kids loved the action.

The Catfish went on a diet this week. Very few Catfish were taken this week. Most of them were taken on cut bait.

While you are at Lake Fork, make sure you stop into Lake Fork Marina and pick up all of the latest in tackle and get the latest scoop on what the fish are doing. Make sure you pick up lots of water to fend off the dehydration factor.

We are now taking bookings for our Fall trips. So give us a call at Toll Free 1-888-454-7037. Oh yes, make sure you wear those life jackets!
