John Morris Fishing Report 3-12-14

FROM:  J & M Guide Service

DATE:  3 – 9 March 2014

This week the water temperatures  dropped backed into the high 40’s to lower 50’s due to the ice storm we had last Sunday.  We were finally able to get back into the water on Tuesday when the ramps thawed out.  Fishing on Tuesday and Wednesday was slow, but it really picked up on Thursday thru Saturday.  We expect warming water temperatures this week with the air temperatures getting into the 70’s.  This week we were able to catch some really nice Bass on red Rattletraps and white spinner baits, but as the week progressed we started catching some really nice Bass (3 – 6 pound) on Zoom Mag II watermelon/red lizards.  We fished them Texas rigged.  By the way don’t forget to dye the tails chartreus.  All the fish were caught using Ardent Apex reels and Ardent Denny Brauer rods, a great combination!

The White Bass Have retreated back to the bridges.  Minnows and Crappie jigs were the key to catching them.  Look in about 16 to 20 foot of water depending on the bridge your fishing.

The Crappie fishing was also slow.  A few were being caught under the 514 bridge and on deep creek bends.  Live minnows were the bait of choice.

The Catfish have a case of lock jaw.  Very few were being caught, but the few that were being caught, were caught by using Punch bait in 20 24 foot of water on baited holes.

While you are at beautiful Lake Fork, stop into Lake Fork Marina and check out the latest Ardent Apex reels.  They have a good selection of white spinner baits and Crappie jigs and minnows.

The Bass spawn has started here at Lake Fork.  We have a few openings in March and April for guided fishing trips for those trophy spawner’s.  Give us a call, Toll Free; 1-888-454-7037 or E-mail us here at:  .  Have a great fishing week and wear those live vests while the big motor is running.
